ZAGREB, - Dva turistička vlaka sudarila su se u utorak kod izgubljenog grada Inka Machu Picchua na jugu Perua, ozlijedivši 35 ljudi, uključujući Amerkance, Južnokorejce te jednog Čileanca i Francuza, objavila je vlada.

"Dvoje stranih turista u teškom su stanju", priopćilo je ministarstvo zdravstva.

Do sudara je došlo oko 10 sati po lokalnom vremenu, na 89. kilometru pruge između Ollantaytamboa i Aguasa Calientesa, sela najbližem Machu Picchuu, najposjećenijem turističkom mjestu u Peruu.

Vatrogasci i hitne službe stigli su na mjesto nesreće, u zabačenom dijelu zemlje u dolini Vilcanota u istočnim Andama.

Prema peruanskim medijima, lokalni stanovnici su kamenjem i drvima blokirali željezničku prugu, pa je vlak morao stati. U njega je potom udario drugi vlak.

Tu verziju događaja policija zasad nije potvrdila i istraga se nastavlja.

Jedan vlak pripada kompaniji PeruRail, a drugi IncaRail. Obje tvrtke prevoze turiste do Machu Picchua.

Simbol veličanstvene civilizacije Inka koji je od 1983. na popisu svjetske baštine UNESCO-a, utvrda Machu Picchu potječe iz 15. stoljeća i svake je godine posjete tisuće turista.
