OGROMNA PETICIJA

'BRITANIJA I ŠVEDSKA POTKOPAVAJU CIJELI SUSTAV LJUDSKIH PRAVA UN-A' Više od 500 nobelovaca, filozofa i boraca za ljudska prava traži slobodu za Assangea

ŽENEVA - Prije početka današnjeg sastanka Odbora za ljudska prava Ujedinjenih naroda u Ženevi, 500 organizacija za zaštitu ljudskih prava, pravnih stručnjaka, bivših dužnosnika UN-a i poznatih aktivista za zaštitu ljudskih prava, među kojima su i četiri dobitnika Nobelove nagrade za mir, zatražili su od vlada Švedske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva da poštuju odluku Ujedinjenih naroda koja ih poziva da oslobode osnivača WikiLeaksa Juliana Assangea.

Među više od 500 potpisnika nalaze se i Naomi Klein, Pussy Riot, Ai Wei Wei, te hrvatski i slovenski filozofi Srećko Horvat i Slavoj Žižek.

Zajednička izjava dostavljena je švedskim i britanskim stalnim predstavnicima pri UN-u u Ženevi, a mi ju prenosimo u cijelosti:

Mi, potpisnici ove izjave, uključujući organizacije koje se bave zaštitom ljudskih prava, akademici, političari i aktivisti, osuđujemo reakcije vlada Švedske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva na zaključak Radne skupine o proizvoljnom zatočavanju Ujedinjenih Naroda kako je Julian Assange proizvoljno zatočen.

Vlade Švedske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva postavljaju opasan presedan koji potkopava cijeli sustav ljudskih prava Ujedinjenih naroda u cjelini.

Pozivamo Švedsku i Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo na poštovanje obvezujuće prirode povelja o ljudskim pravima na kojima se temelji odluka, uključujući Međunarodnu povelju građanskih i političkih prava, kao i neovisnost, integritet i autoritet Ureda visokog povjerenika za ljudska prava i Radne skupine o proizvoljnom zatočavanju.

Stoga pozivamo vlade Švedske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva da bez daljeg odgađanja postupe u skladu s nalazima Radne skupine i ‘osiguraju pravo na slobodno kretanje gospodina Assangea, te pruže zakonski provedivo pravo na naknadu, u skladu s člankom 9(5) Međunarodne povelje o građanskim i političkim pravima.
