Ferrarijev predsjednik Luca di Montezemolo tvrdi da je on bio taj koji je Michaela Schumachera nagovorio na povratak u Formulu 1, samo se nadao da će se on dogoditi u bolidu "propetih konjića":

- Ja sam mu ideju o povratku stavio u glavu i, uz svo dužno poštovanje Mercedes GP-u, da je postojala mogućnost Ferrarijeva nastupa s tri bolida Michael bi vozio za nas - tvrdi Di Montezemolo.

Schumacher se, podsjetimo, u Svjetsko F1 prvenstvo vratio nakon trogodišnje pauze s ciljem osvajanja osmog naslova najboljega u poretku vozača.
